The government is trying to boost the Real Estate market by offering a tax rebate for first time home buyers on top of all the other tax credits for owning a home. If you are buying a home for the first time you can receive a $4,000 tax credit per person. So a married couple can receive a total $8,000 tax credit. But ACT NOW, the house has to be purchased before November 30, 2009. For more information contact your CPA.
789 Billion Dollar Stimulus Package:
The new package is extending the previous tax credit to September 1, 2009, instead of the old June 30th date. According to the National Association of Realtors this package is projecting 500,000 transactions caused by a domino affect started by the stimulus package. When a buyer buys a home then the seller becomes the buyer and purchases their next home and so on. These extra transactions will pump more money into the economy beyond the initial purchase of the home. Some of the following also gets purchased when buying a home; rental truck, movers, boxes, cleaning supplies, new floors, appliances, furniture etc.
The new stimulus package is offering a few other incentives to homeowners, when they purchase energy efficiency upgrades to their house. From; heating to A/C units, doors, windows and insulation until the end of 2010.
